Attersee – Alexandrine Wreck is a wreck dive site in Upper Austria – Salzkammergut, Austria, set among the country’s varied freshwater landscapes. The Alexandrine is a wooden boat wreck resting at about twelve metres in the clear water of the Attersee, one of the lake’s classic easy wreck dives. The timber hull is well preserved in the cold, low-oxygen water and is draped with freshwater mussels and small growth. Because it is shallow and intact, the wreck is perfect for newer divers wanting a first taste of wreck diving in safe conditions. Perch and roach school around the structure, and the clear water makes for excellent wide-angle photographs. It is usually reached by a short boat ride from one of the Attersee dive centres near Weyregg. The Alexandrine is often paired with the deeper Spreitzer yacht for a two-wreck dive day. Conditions are typical of Austrian inland water: visibility generally runs from 12 to 25 metres, the current is low and the water temperature ranges between 4 and 20 degrees Celsius depending on season and depth.
