Diving Iž Island Walls

Site Overview

Iž Island Walls is a wall dive site in Northern Dalmatia - Zadar & Kornati, Croatia, set in the clear, fish-rich waters of the Adriatic Sea. The Iž island walls are pristine rocky slopes off a quiet Dalmatian island. Lobsters and octopus hide in the cracks, and the clear water makes for relaxed diving. The site suits a range of levels on its shallow parts, with deeper slopes for Advanced. Visibility is excellent, showing the rocky topography and fish clearly. The island’s tranquillity keeps it uncrowded. It is a peaceful natural dive away from the busier wreck sites. Conditions are typical of the Croatian coast: visibility generally runs from 15 to 35 metres, the current is low and the water temperature ranges between 14 and 25 degrees Celsius depending on season and depth. The marine life is classic Adriatic, centred on european lobster, common octopus, two-banded seabream, with the full community described below for those planning a dive. Because of its intermediate rating and the need for Advanced Open Water certification, Iž Island Walls is best approached with the right thermal protection and, where relevant, wreck or deep training.
