Site Overview

Peljesac - Sveti Ivan (Ponta Rata) is a wall dive site in Southern Dalmatia - Dubrovnik & Peljesac, Croatia, set in the clear, fish-rich waters of the Adriatic Sea. Ponta Rata is a wall dive on the Pelješac peninsula with schools of sardines and amberjacks. Blue sharks are possible in summer, adding excitement to the blue. Moderate current and the depth make it a dive for confident Advanced divers. Visibility is regularly excellent, showing the wall and fish clearly. The peninsula is famous for wine and oysters, a great topside combo. It is a flagship wall of the southern Dalmatian coast. Conditions are typical of the Croatian coast: visibility generally runs from 18 to 40 metres, the current is moderate and the water temperature ranges between 14 and 26 degrees Celsius depending on season and depth. The marine life is classic Adriatic, centred on european pilchard, greater amberjack, blue shark, with the full community described below for those planning a dive.
