Nanuyasawa Wall – Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands

Site Overview

Nanuyasawa Wall is a dramatic drop-off dive in the Yasawa Islands featuring gorgonian sea fans, soft coral gardens, and encounters with whitetip reef sharks in a pristine wall environment that showcases the best of the northern Mamanuca and Yasawa diving. The wall drops from approximately 5 metres to beyond 28 metres, its face covered in dense gorgonian sea fans and soft corals that create a colourful tapestry of marine life against the deep blue water. Whitetip reef sharks patrol the deeper sections and sandy ledges, their distinctive white-tipped fins visible against the reef structure. Barracuda form loose schools above the wall, their silver bodies creating flashes of light as they orient to the current. Dense clouds of anthias surround the coral formations, adding movement and colour to the wall landscape. The gorgonian sea fans are well-developed, with individual fans reaching impressive sizes that provide excellent photographic subjects. Soft corals in shades of orange, pink, and purple cover the wall face, pulsing with the moderate current. The drift dive format carries divers along the wall at a comfortable pace, allowing them to observe the coral communities and fish populations without excessive finning. The wall is positioned to receive clean oceanic water from the open passage, resulting in good visibility and healthy coral growth. Nanuyasawa Wall is one of the premier dive sites in the Yasawa chain, offering wall diving that complements the lagoon and pinnacle sites found elsewhere in the islands.
