Supermarket is one of Fijis most famous and thrilling shark diving experiences, a baited shark dive in the Mamanuca Islands where up to 40 bull sharks gather alongside grey reef sharks, lemon sharks, and occasionally tiger sharks in a single breathtaking encounter. The site has earned its name from the reliable abundance of sharks that congregate at the feeding station, creating a spectacle that draws divers from around the world. The bull sharks are the dominant species, with dozens of large individuals circling the feeding area in a controlled display of predatory behaviour. Grey reef sharks cruise the perimeter, their streamlined bodies designed for efficient movement in the current. Lemon sharks add to the diversity, their distinctive flat heads and yellow-brown colouration providing visual variety among the shark species. Tiger sharks, while less common, make occasional appearances from November to March, their striped bodies and powerful builds commanding respect from all present. Large groupers and trevally have learned to associate the feeding activity with easy meals, swarming in the background and adding to the biomass on display. The dive takes place on a sandy area adjacent to a reef slope, where divers are positioned in a semi-circle while trained feeders conduct a controlled feeding session. The shallow depth and calm conditions make this one of the most accessible shark dives in the world, suitable for Open Water certified divers who are comfortable around large marine predators.
