Ahe is an isolated atoll in the northern Tuamotus that remains one of the least dived locations in French Polynesia, preserving marine ecosystems in near-pristine condition. The Ahe Pass delivers a wild drift diving experience with large numbers of grey reef sharks, silvertip sharks, schools of jacks and barracuda, and relatively unexplored reef walls that support extraordinary biodiversity. Dolphin pods regularly accompany boats to dive sites, and the sense of exploration pervades every dive in this remote location. The lagoon coral gardens feature pristine table corals, green turtles, and giant clams in conditions of remarkable clarity that reflect the absence of human impact. Very few divers visit Ahe each year, and those who do are rewarded with an authentic wilderness diving experience where you may be the only group in the water. The atoll has minimal infrastructure with a small number of family pensions providing the only accommodation. Dive arrangements are informal, organised through pension hosts with local boats. For adventurous divers who prioritise pristine marine environments over comfort and infrastructure, Ahe represents one of the last frontiers of South Pacific diving. The combination of healthy shark populations, untouched coral, and the thrill of exploration in a rarely visited location makes Ahe a destination for those willing to travel off the beaten path.
