Site Overview

Amrum Bank is a reef and wall dive site in North Sea – Heligoland & East Frisian Islands, Germany, reached from the base town of Amrum. Amrum Bank is an offshore sandbank east of Amrum where the strong tidal current brings nutrient-rich water and feeding fish. It is a drift-style dive for experienced divers, with the chance of larger shoals on the flood. The site reaches a maximum depth of 28 m with an average profile around 18 m and a shallow start near 8 m, which places it firmly in the advanced category and means divers should hold at least an Advanced Open Water certification. Conditions are typical of the North Sea environment: visibility generally runs from 6 to 18 metres, the current is strong, and the water temperature ranges between 6 and 16 degrees Celsius with moderate surge exposure.
