Site Overview

Müritz is a training and reef dive site in Northern German Lakes – Mecklenburg Lake District & Brandenburg, Germany, reached from the base town of Waren. The Müritz is Germany’s second-largest lake, a large shallow freshwater sea with perch, pike and roach over sandy plateaus and weed beds. It is a relaxed training and photography lake with easy shore access and plenty of space for courses. The site reaches a maximum depth of 18 m with an average profile around 10 m and a shallow start near 1 m, which places it firmly in the beginner category and means divers should hold at least an Open Water certification. Conditions are typical of the freshwater lake environment: visibility generally runs from 3 to 14 metres, the current is weak, and the water temperature ranges between 5 and 24 degrees Celsius with low surge exposure.
