    Site Overview

Fiskardo Reef is a relaxed, rocky reef close to the picturesque harbour of Fiskardo at Kefalonia’s unspoilt northern tip. The reef is a jumble of boulders and sand patches rolling from 5 m to about 30 m, draped in algae and sponges and home to a classic Ionian cast of macro life. Scorpionfish blend perfectly with the rock, lobsters tuck into the crevices, and octopus slip between the boulders, while morays watch from their holes and wrasse flit through the shallows. The north-coast position shelters the site from the worst swell, giving reliable, clear conditions that suit divers of every level, and the short boat ride from the harbour makes it an easy, rewarding dive. With its gentle topography and abundant small life, Fiskardo Reef is a lovely half-day out and a great place to slow down and really look at the Mediterranean up close. Fiskardo Reef (Kefalonia) sits within Ionian Islands – Kefalonia & Ithaca and is best described as a reef dive. The water here is typically clear, and the profile — from around 5 m down to 30 m — gives beginner divers a rewarding range of routes. Among the life you can expect are European Lobster, Scorpionfish, Common Octopus, Mediterranean Moray, Wrasse. The site rewards a slow, observant approach, and good buoyancy keeps both diver and reef safe. With sensible planning around weather and boats, it ranks among the more memorable stops on a Greek diving trip.

    Dive Briefing

"The boat leaves Fiskardo harbour and anchors over the reef a few minutes away. The group descends to the boulder field at 6–10 m and the guide leads a slow tour, lifting rocks gently to reveal scorpionfish and lobsters and pointing out octopus in the crevices. Divers keep fins up to avoid silting the sand and stay within sight of the shot line. With a max depth of 30 m the profile is relaxed, leaving plenty of gas for a long safety stop in the bright shallows. A DSMB is deployed before surfacing to warn any yacht traffic. The dive ends with a short, calm ride back to the harbour. On the day, the guide runs a full briefing covering entry, descent line, depth limits and the turn point. Divers follow the plan at a relaxed pace, keeping close to the group and watching depth and gas. The route makes the most of the reef features while staying within no-decompression limits. A safety stop in the shallows rounds off the dive before a controlled ascent and DSMB deployment if needed."
