Gun Beach Wall – Gun Beach & Tumon Bay

Site Overview

Gun Beach Wall is one of the most accessible and spectacular wall dives in the western Pacific, featuring a dramatic vertical drop-off that begins just metres from the shore and plunges to depths far beyond recreational limits. The wall face is covered in an extraordinary diversity of soft corals, gorgonians, sea fans, and black coral that create a colourful tapestry against the deep blue water. Grey reef sharks patrol the wall regularly at depths of 15 to 30 metres, while eagle rays and sea turtles cruise along the edge. Large schools of barracuda form spinning vortexes in the current, and giant trevally hunt along the wall face. The shallow reef top above the wall provides excellent coral gardens at 5 to 10 metres, making this site suitable for divers of all levels when staying within appropriate depth limits. The shore access from Gun Beach makes this one of the most convenient big-animal dive sites in the world, where divers can encounter sharks and rays without needing a boat. The combination of dramatic topography, abundant pelagic life, and easy access has made Gun Beach Wall a legendary site among Pacific divers. The wall face features dramatic overhangs and swim-throughs at various depths that provide shelter for sleeping reef sharks and hunting moray eels. The diversity of hard and soft coral species on this wall is among the highest recorded on Guam, with over fifty identified coral species thriving in the clear nutrient-rich waters.
