Site Overview
Orote Point Wall is a sheer vertical drop-off that plunges hundreds of metres into the deep Pacific Ocean, representing one of the most dramatic and advanced wall dives in the western Pacific. The wall face is adorned with pristine coral growth, massive sponges, and large gorgonian fans that thrive in the nutrient-rich current flowing along the peninsula. Big pelagic species are the primary attraction, with dogtooth tuna, mackerel, and oceanic whitetip sharks regularly encountered patrolling the blue water beyond the wall edge. Reef sharks cruise the wall face at depths of 20 to 35 metres, while passing dolphins may be observed from below as their silhouettes cross the surface above. The visibility is consistently exceptional, frequently exceeding 40 metres in the clear open ocean water, allowing divers to appreciate the full scale of the wall as it drops into the deep blue abyss. The wall supports an incredible diversity of life, from tiny nudibranchs on the coral-encrusted face to massive pelagic predators in the open water. This is an advanced boat dive that demands good depth discipline and comfort in exposed ocean conditions, but rewards experienced divers with one of the most awe-inspiring underwater landscapes on Earth. The wall formation was created by tectonic uplift and subsequent erosion over millions of years, resulting in the remarkably vertical profile that defines this world-class dive site today.
Dive Briefing
"Enter from the dive boat and descend along the wall face to your planned maximum depth, typically 25 to 35 metres for the best pelagic viewing. The wall drops vertically from approximately 15 metres into depths far beyond recreational limits. Position yourself 2 to 3 metres from the wall face and scan the blue water for passing pelagics. Dogtooth tuna and mackerel patrol the wall edge at various depths, while oceanic whitetip sharks may pass in the open water. Reef sharks are commonly seen at 20 to 30 metres along the wall face. The current flows along the wall, carrying nutrients that sustain the rich coral and sponge communities. Work your way along the wall at a comfortable depth, ascending gradually. The wall face features overhangs, swim-throughs, and ledges that provide shelter and add visual interest. Deploy your DSMB at the end of the dive and complete a safety stop at 5 metres. The boat will track your position throughout the dive."

The site is not recommended for beginners or divers with fewer than 50 logged dives.
