Site Overview

Dune Wreck off Pondicherry is a shallower wreck site resting at 8 to 16 metres on the rocky Bay of Bengal bottom offering accessible wreck exploration for divers with open water certification. The wreck structure has been colonised by soft corals and sponges creating artificial reef habitat supporting grouper, parrotfish, lionfish, and moray eels among the deteriorating hull plates. Cuttlefish patrol the surrounding reef face displaying their remarkable colour-changing abilities while various invertebrates colonise the wreck surfaces. The shallower depth allows extended bottom times for thorough wreck exploration and photography without the nitrogen management concerns of deeper wreck sites.
