    Site Overview

Netrani North is a productive reef slope on the northern side of Netrani Island offering gentle drift diving conditions with diverse marine life on rocky reef formations. The site descends from 3 to 15 metres along a gentle slope with rocky outcrops hosting parrotfish, butterflyfish, and lionfish among the coral-encrusted rock surfaces. Moray eels extend from crevices while stingrays rest on sandy patches between the rocky formations. The mild current creates comfortable drift diving conditions allowing divers to cover extensive reef area while observing the diverse fish populations that make Netrani one of India's most productive mainland diving destinations. This site offers accessible reef exploration suitable for divers with open water certification seeking quality marine life encounters on the Karnataka coast. The northern reef slope benefits from gentle current flow that delivers plankton to filter-feeding organisms while allowing divers to drift comfortably along the reef observing marine life with minimal physical exertion throughout the dive. The gentle reef slope provides an ideal environment for practicing buoyancy skills over sensitive marine habitat while enjoying abundant fish life at comfortable depths throughout the extended dive profile. The consistent marine life encounters and gentle conditions make this an ideal warm-up dive before attempting the deeper and more challenging sites around Netrani Island during multi-dive excursions.

    Dive Briefing

"The dive boat departs from Murudeshwar for the 12-minute crossing to Netrani Island's northern reef slope. Descend to the reef crest at approximately 5 metres and follow the gentle slope downward along the mild current direction. Swim over rocky outcrops observing parrotfish grazing on algae and butterflyfish hovering around coral formations. Navigate to crevices where moray eels extend their heads and sandy patches where stingrays rest between foraging excursions. The gentle drift carries you along approximately 200 metres of reef slope. Ascend along the reef crest completing safety stops on the shallow rocky formations rich with tropical fish. The return boat ride allows time to review reef photography and identify the diverse invertebrate species observed on the rocky slope during the gentle drift dive. The return crossing to Murudeshwar provides time to review reef photography and plan subsequent dives at the deeper wall and southern sites for a complete Netrani experience."
