The bay's sheltered nature means that diving conditions are generally good year-round, even when the open ocean is rough. For those travelling from overseas, the most common route is to fly into Jakarta or Bali and then take a domestic flight to Manokwari, often with a transit in Makassar. It is advisable to book these regional flights well in advance, as they can fill up quickly during the peak season and schedules may be subject to change.
