On Halmahera, the capital Sofifi has a limited selection of hotels, while smaller coastal towns offer homestays. Morotai Island has a handful of guesthouses and a small resort catering to WWII history enthusiasts and divers. For accessing the more remote dive sites around Dodola and the Bacan-Obi area, charter boats and basic island accommodation are the norm.
