Site Overview

Bat Cave Corner is one of Menjangan Island's most unique and atmospheric dive sites, featuring a dramatic limestone cave entrance that opens into the cliff face just above the waterline, with colonies of fruit bats roosting in the darkness above. The underwater portion of the site features a beautiful coral wall and slope system that extends from approximately 3 meters to over 25 meters depth, covered with pristine hard and soft corals that thrive in the crystal-clear waters of the West Bali National Park. The cave entrance creates a stunning silhouette for underwater photographers, with light streaming through the opening and illuminating the coral-covered walls inside. Hawksbill turtles are virtually guaranteed sightings, often seen gliding along the wall face or resting on the ledges near the cave entrance. Schools of batfish hover above the reef in large numbers, creating a distinctive silhouette against the deep blue water. Napoleon wrasse cruise through the bommies, and whitetip reef sharks patrol the deeper sections. The site's gentle conditions and unique cave feature make it one of the most memorable and photogenic dives on Menjangan Island. The intersection of terrestrial and marine life here is palpable, as the sounds of the bats overhead can sometimes be heard during the surface interval, adding a wild and remote feeling to the entire diving day. The coral health in this corner of the park is exceptional, with a diversity of species that reflects the long-standing protection of the area.
