Sekotong: Gili Nanggu Dive Site – Lombok

Site Overview

Gili Nanggu is a small, picturesque island off the southwest coast of Lombok that offers some of the most pristine coral diving in the Sekotong region. The island is surrounded by healthy reef slopes that descend from 3 meters to approximately 20 meters, with coral coverage that rivals the best sites in the Gili Islands to the north. The reef features a stunning mix of hard and soft corals, including massive table corals, dense staghorn formations, and colorful soft coral gardens that create a vibrant underwater landscape. Hawksbill turtles are resident around the island and are seen on virtually every dive, often feeding on the reef just meters from divers. Schools of clownfish inhabit the numerous anemones scattered across the coral slope, while blue-spotted stingrays glide across the sand channels between the coral heads. The site's easy conditions, shallow depths, and exceptional coral health make it ideal for divers of all levels and an excellent choice for underwater photography. Gili Nanggu is also one of the best snorkeling sites in the Sekotong area, with the shallow coral visible from the surface in the clear water. The island itself features a beautiful white sand beach that serves as a perfect lunch spot between dives. Gili Nanggu is typically combined with nearby Gili Layar for a two-tank island-hopping dive day.
