    Site Overview

The Giant’s Causeway is famous above water, but its hexagonal basalt columns continue beneath the sea, creating a unique underwater landscape draped in kelp, lobsters and anemones. This boat dive is swell-dependent and best in calm summer windows, offering a geological experience found almost nowhere else. Close to the UNESCO site, it is a memorable, scenery-led dive for intermediate divers. The site rewards careful planning, good buoyancy and a respect for the power of the Atlantic, and remains a favourite among Irish divers. Dive Briefing

"Brief on the exposed descent, current and DSMB. Drop onto the columns at slack, control buoyancy against the basalt, and watch the kelp and crabs. Ascend with a safety stop and deploy the marker for the boat. Stay close to the skipper’s plan given the swell and exposure. Follow your guide closely, monitor your thermal comfort and complete a safety stop before exiting at the designated point. Traveler Notes

    Who is this for?

For intermediate divers with drysuit experience who want unique geology and are comfortable with swell. A great add-on to a Causeway visit. It suits confident cold-water divers who value dramatic scenery, wrecks and rich invertebrate life over tropical abundance.
