Grotta di Frasassi

Site Overview

The Grotta di Frasassi in the Marche is a spectacular show cave whose lower sumps are a proving ground for certified cave divers. The flooded passages, such as the Lago di Cristallo, reveal stunning limestone formations, clear blue water and a fragile troglobiotic ecosystem. Diving is strictly for full cave certification, guide-led and governed by tight conservation rules. For those qualified, it is one of the most beautiful inland cave dives in Europe, blending geology and technical challenge in a protected karst system.
