    Site Overview

The Secca della Mantice is a rocky pinnacle off Bergeggi, near Savona, that rises from depth to a shallow summit covered in red gorgonians. It holds large groupers, dentex and the occasional amberjack, with morays in the cracks and a healthy Mediterranean reef on the surrounding slopes. Less famous than the Portofino sites but equally rewarding, it is a fine intermediate dive that combines big fish with colourful invertebrate life in clear Ligurian water. The site rewards careful planning, good buoyancy and a respect for Italy’s marine-protection rules, and remains a favourite among Mediterranean divers. Dive Briefing

"Brief on the pinnacle profile and current, then descend the shot line to the top. Control buoyancy to protect the gorgonians and watch for dentex and groupers on the blue. Use a torch in the crevices, ascend with a safety stop, and be mindful of boat traffic near the coast. Follow your guide closely, monitor your thermal comfort and complete a safety stop before exiting at the designated point.
