    Site Overview

The Secca di Scilla is the signature dive of the Costa Viola, a cluster of pinnacles off the legendary town of Scilla where groupers, dentex and the occasional barracuda gather in clear Tyrrhenian water. Red gorgonians and morays decorate the rock, and the dramatic coastline above adds to the experience. Less crowded than the famous north, it is a fine intermediate dive that combines big fish with colourful invertebrate life on the toe of Italy. The warm, clear water makes it a relaxed southern alternative. The site rewards careful planning, good buoyancy and a respect for Italy’s marine-protection rules, and remains a favourite among Mediterranean divers. Dive Briefing

"Brief on the pinnacle profile and current, then descend the shot line to the top. Control buoyancy to protect the gorgonians and watch for dentex and groupers on the blue. Use a torch in the crevices, ascend with a safety stop, and be mindful of boat traffic near the coast. Follow your guide closely, monitor your thermal comfort and complete a safety stop before exiting at the designated point.
