Tegnue of Venice

Site Overview

The Tegnue are rare rocky outcrops sitting on the sandy lagoon floor near Venice and Chioggia, creating oases of life in an otherwise flat seabed. Seahorses, pipefish, nudibranchs and hermit crabs thrive among the rocks, with small wrecks adding interest. The sheltered lagoons and easy access make the Tegnue a favourite for training, macro photography and relaxed exploration. It is a unique, gentle dive that reveals the hidden biodiversity of the northern Adriatic, close to the romance of Venice. The site rewards careful planning, good buoyancy and a respect for Italy’s marine-protection rules, and remains a favourite among Mediterranean divers.
