Amuro Blue Hole - Japan Diving

Site Overview

Amuro Blue Hole is a spectacular vertical shaft formation in the Kerama Islands featuring a near-vertical wall descending from five metres to over forty metres depth creating an extraordinary geological feature in clear tropical waters. The blue hole walls are encrusted with soft corals gorgonians and sponges that thrive in the reduced light conditions creating a colourful vertical reef environment unlike any other dive site in Japan. The descent along the wall reveals dramatic changes in light colour and marine life communities as depth increases from the sunlit shallows to the deep blue interior.
