Site Overview

Kita-daito Drop-off is a spectacular vertical wall dive on the remote island of Kita-daito-jima featuring a near-vertical drop-off descending from five metres well beyond recreational diving limits. The wall face is encrusted with diverse coral and sponge life creating a vibrant vertical garden that transitions from hard coral dominance in shallow water to soft corals and deep-water organisms at depth. The island's extreme isolation approximately three hundred and fifty kilometres east of Okinawa ensures pristine coral health and minimal diver impact. Pelagic species including schooling jacks eagle rays and occasional whale sharks patrol the deep blue water beyond the wall creating exceptional big-animal diving opportunities. The wall's vertical nature provides excellent depth management with divers able to explore at their planned depth while maintaining visual reference to the wall face. The shallow rim at five to ten metres features healthy coral reef with abundant tropical fish providing an excellent shallow conclusion and safety stop location. The remote Daito Islands location creates an exclusive diving experience with virtually no other divers and a sense of pristine wilderness.
