Site Overview

Sunaabe Coral Garden is a protected reef site located along the western coast of Okinawa Main Island near Chatan offering exceptional coral diversity in shallow to moderate depths. The site features extensive table coral formations interspersed with branching staghorn corals brain corals and sea fans creating a complex three-dimensional reef structure. The calm shallow conditions with minimal current make it an ideal training site for beginners and night divers while the coral diversity attracts experienced photographers seeking macro and wide-angle subjects. Mandarin fish are commonly spotted among the corals at dusk during their mating displays adding a unique attraction for evening visitors.
