Gorgone I & II - Jordan Diving

Site Overview

Gorgone One and Two are twin reef patches in the central Marine Park area renowned for their spectacular giant gorgonian sea fans that extend over one metre in diameter creating dramatic underwater fan forests unique among Aqaba's dive sites. The two reef patches rise from twenty two metres to eight metres depth with the gorgonian colonies concentrated on the current facing surfaces where planktonic food is most abundant. Schools of snapper patrol between the reef patches while moray eels shelter among the coral bommies and lionfish perch on the gorgonian branches. The twin patch formation allows divers to explore two distinct reef environments in a single dive with each patch supporting slightly different coral communities and fish assemblages.
