New Canyon - Jordan Diving

Site Overview

New Canyon is an advanced drift diving site similar in character to Cable Canyon but with its own distinctive features including gorgonian studded walls whitetip reef shark encounters and large wrasse populations that patrol the canyon corridor. The canyon fissure drops from eight metres to thirty five metres creating vertical walls covered in gorgonian fans soft corals and black coral colonies that thrive in the current flowing through the narrow passage. Whitetip reef sharks rest on sandy ledges in the deeper sections while large napoleon wrasse cruise the upper walls feeding on invertebrates among the coral colonies. The drift experience carries divers through the passage with the current providing effortless exploration of the spectacular wall formations while the marine life concentration rivals any reef site in Jordan. The canyon's orientation creates different light conditions on each wall face adding visual variety to the diving experience and photographic opportunities.
