Yamanieh Reef - Jordan Diving

Site Overview

Yamanieh Reef is the southernmost reef in Jordanian waters located near the Saudi Arabian border and represents one of the most pristine and least visited diving sites in the country. The reef's remote position means it receives minimal diving pressure preserving exceptional coral health and fish populations that are notably less disturbed by human activity than sites closer to Aqaba city. The coral formations include massive healthy table corals dense staghorn colonies and vibrant soft coral communities that create an underwater garden of extraordinary quality. Green turtles and hawksbill turtles regularly feed on the reef while occasional dugong sightings make this one of the few locations in Jordan where these rare marine mammals have been observed. The reef wall drops from five to twenty five metres with the shallower sections featuring the most pristine coral coverage and the deeper sections supporting gorgonian fans and black coral colonies. The journey to Yamanieh Reef requires a longer boat ride but rewards the dedicated diver with an uncrowded world class reef experience.
