Tugboat Rozi
Site Overview
The Tugboat Rozi is a 30 m Maltese tug scuttled in 1992 as an artificial reef just off Sliema, resting upright on a sandy bottom at 20-35 m. It is one of Malta’s classic wreck dives, fully intact with its wheelhouse, winches and deck structures still recognisable. Dense sponge growth covers the hull and huge schools of barracuda, amberjack and bream swirl above the wreck, while morays and octopus hide in the openings. The clear water and easy accessibility make Rozi a favourite for both new and experienced divers. Dive Briefing
"Board the dive boat at Sliema and sail a few minutes to the mooring. Descend the shot line to the bow at about 20 m and circle the upright hull, keeping buoyancy off the bottom to protect the coral. Penetration of the wheelhouse is possible for trained divers, but most stay outside watching the fish. Ascend with a safety stop and watch for harbour boat traffic near the surface. Follow your guide closely, monitor your thermal comfort and complete a safety stop before exiting at the designated point.
