Site Overview

Corbeteña Rock is an offshore seamount located 40 miles from the Nayarit coast that serves as a magnet for giant manta rays, humpback whales, whale sharks, and enormous schools of pelagic fish in one of the most exciting advanced diving experiences available on Mexico's Pacific mainland coast. The submerged pinnacle rises from deep ocean waters to within 10 metres of the surface, concentrating marine life from microscopic plankton to the largest animals in the ocean around its rocky slopes. During the winter months from December through March, the seamount becomes a hotspot for giant manta rays that glide through the nutrient-rich currents with wingspans exceeding 5 metres, while humpback whales migrate through the area and can be heard singing throughout the water column during dives.
