La Entrega, Huatulco – Oaxaca Coast

Site Overview

La Entrega is Huatulco's most accessible and popular dive site, a shallow coral reef within the Bays of Huatulco National Park that offers beginner-friendly conditions with abundant stingrays, diverse coral communities, and colourful tropical fish in the warm Pacific waters of the Oaxaca coast. The site's name translates to "The Delivery" and refers to its historical use as a supply point, but today it delivers an entirely different kind of experience as one of the most productive coral reef environments on the southern Pacific coast of Mexico. The shallow depth profile of 2-15 metres creates ideal conditions for beginner divers building confidence while enjoying abundant marine life in calm, warm waters with minimal current or surge. Stingrays are the signature species at La Entrega, with multiple individuals regularly observed gliding across the sandy patches between coral formations, their distinctive silhouettes visible against the light sand substrate. The coral communities include diverse hard and soft coral species that provide habitat for abundant tropical fish including parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, and damselfish that create constant colour and movement throughout the dive. Green sea turtles visit during the warmer months, adding charismatic megafauna encounters to the already rich marine environment. The national park protection has preserved healthy coral coverage that exceeds many other Pacific mainland sites, making La Entrega an important reference point for coral health in the region. The proximity to the Huatulco resort area, just a 10-minute boat ride, makes it the default first dive for visitors to the region and a reliable site for repeated dives with consistently rewarding marine life encounters at comfortable depths and conditions.
