    Site Overview

Land's End at El Arco is the iconic symbol of Cabo San Lucas and one of Mexico's most photographed dive sites where massive granite pinnacles rise dramatically from the seafloor at the point where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. The underwater landscape mirrors the famous above-water rock arch with towering granite boulders creating swim-throughs, arches, and walls covered in colourful invertebrate life. California sea lions are permanent residents, often approaching divers with playful curiosity and photogenic antics that make every dive memorable. Schools of jacks, snappers, and sergeant majors swirl around the pinnacles while moray eels peek from crevices in the granite. The nutrient-rich waters where two oceans converge support remarkable biodiversity including seasonal visits from eagle rays, mantas, and whale sharks during the warmer months. The site's accessibility from the Cabo San Lucas marina makes it perfect for both morning and afternoon dives with multiple dive operators running daily trips. While currents can be moderate around the exposed pinnacles, the variety of depths and sheltered areas means divers of all levels can enjoy this world-famous site. The combination of dramatic geology, abundant marine life, and the iconic backdrop of El Arco creates an unforgettable diving experience that perfectly introduces visitors to the underwater wonders of the Baja California peninsula.

    Dive Briefing

"Dives at Land's End begin with a short 10-minute boat ride from the Cabo San Lucas marina. Enter the water from the boat and descend along the granite pinnacles which start at 3 metres and extend to 25 metres depth. Sea lions typically greet divers within the first few minutes, circling with curiosity and sometimes tugging at fins. Work your way along the boulder formations where moray eels hide in crevices and colourful reef fish school in the currents. The swim-through areas between pinnacles offer dramatic light effects and wide-angle photography opportunities. Monitor your depth carefully as the topography changes rapidly around the granite formations. Currents flow around the pinnacles creating upwellings that attract pelagic fish. Ascend slowly along the shallower boulders where invertebrate life is most diverse. Safety stops can be conducted in the shallower areas with excellent ambient light. Multiple dives can be made around different sections of the formation during a single boat trip. Surface intervals between dives offer spectacular views of the famous El Arco rock formation above water."
