Where to Stay in Rabaul & East New Britain (Volcanic & Wrecks)
Resorts, hotels, and accommodation options in Rabaul & East New Britain (Volcanic & Wrecks)
Accommodation Overview
Divers base themselves in Kokopo, the modern hub near Rabaul, or at resorts such as Rapopo Plantation Resort, which put the Simpson Harbour wrecks and the Beehives within a short boat ride. Mid-range hotels in Rabaul and Kokopo offer easy access to the dive centres, and most include transfers to the harbours. Because the wrecks and reefs are close to town, a stay of five to seven days is enough to sample the history, the volcano vents, and the outer pinnacles, with liveaboards available for the more remote Pigeon Islands.
