The Pico de la Virgen is the flagship pinnacle of the Cabo de Palos – Islas Hormigas marine reserve, a current-swept seamount where huge groupers, barracuda, dentex, amberjack and eagle rays congregate. One of Spain’s richest dive sites, it rewards advanced divers who ride the current along the pinnacle in clear, nutrient-rich water. The protected status and strong flow have produced exceptional biomass, and the chance of ocean sunfish adds to the magic. Pico de la Virgen is a bucket-list site for Mediterranean divers.
