Site Overview

El Bajón is El Hierro’s iconic seamount, a submerged mountain rising from deep Atlantic water to about 18 m and one of Spain’s premier pelagic dives. Massive schools of jack and barracuda swirl around the pinnacle, tuna and the seasonal whale shark, manta and hammerhead pass through, and eagle rays glide the blue. Advanced divers ride the current along the summit, rewarded by some of the richest big-fish action in the Canaries. Clear, nutrient-rich water and El Hierro’s protected status keep El Bajón world-class.
