El Peñón de Ifach – Valencian Community – Costa Blanca & Columbretes
Site Overview
The Peñón de Ifach at Calpe is a dramatic limestone massif whose base continues as a steep underwater cliff clad in gorgonians and patrolled by amberjack and barracuda. Advanced divers follow the drop-off at 10-30 m, enjoying excellent visibility and the iconic rock above. The moderate current and exposed location make it a serious but spectacular dive, and the healthy reef showcases the Costa Blanca at its best. El Peñón de Ifach is a signature Calpe site. The site rewards careful planning, good buoyancy and respect for Spain’s marine-protection rules, and remains a favourite among divers who value dramatic volcanic or Mediterranean scenery, historic wrecks and rich marine life across a long, varied season.
