Gaztelugatxe Reserve – Basque Country (Euskadi)

Site Overview

The Gaztelugatxe reserve near Bermeo is a protected stretch of steep cliffs and walls clad in lush kelp, home to large groupers, lobsters and sea bass in clear, cool Atlantic water. Limited access keeps the reef pristine and the fish bold, and the dramatic islet above is a Basque icon. Intermediate divers follow the walls at 8-28 m, while the surrounding coast offers easy boat access. Gaztelugatxe is a highlight of Euskadi diving.
