    Site Overview

The Museo Atlántico off Playa Blanca is Europe’s first underwater contemporary art museum, with more than three hundred life-size sculptures by Jason deCaires Taylor arranged at 12-15 m as a thriving artificial reef. Barracuda, sardines, cuttlefish and angel sharks now inhabit the installations, making it a world-class art dive and a strong beginner site thanks to its shallow depth. The sculptures create surreal wide-angle frames and a thought-provoking dive that is both beautiful and ecologically active. Clear Atlantic water keeps the museum photogenic year-round. The site rewards careful planning, good buoyancy and respect for Spain’s marine-protection rules, and remains a favourite among divers who value dramatic volcanic or Mediterranean scenery, historic wrecks and rich marine life across a long, varied season.
