The Wörthersee, Austria’s warmest large lake, is a wreck diver’s playground with a sunken DC-3 / C-47 fuselage, small aircraft, wooden wrecks and abundant pike and carp, while Millstätter See offers deep, very clear walls and a small sunken chapel. Fly into Klagenfurt Airport (KLU), the regional hub, or Ljubljana (LJU) and Vienna (VIE). A rental car is the easiest way to tour the lakes; the main lakes are also served by regional trains and Postbus.
