The Serasa and Muara coastal area is the heart of Brunei diving, offering an extraordinary concentration of wrecks and macro dive sites within easy boat reach of the mainland. The region features eleven distinct dive sites ranging from the historic American Wreck (USS Salute), a WWII Admirable-class minesweeper sunk in 1945, to the Japanese and Australian wrecks from the same era, creating one of the most historically rich wreck diving clusters in Southeast Asia. The Cement Wreck offers ideal wreck penetration training, while The Pillars is Brunei's premier macro site with ghost pipefish, frogfish, and seahorses among the old ferry terminal pilings. Hiding Place delivers rare critter encounters including blue-ringed octopus and ribbon eels. Artificial reef sites including Abana Reef and Amanda's Reef showcase Brunei's commitment to marine habitat creation. All sites are reached by short boat rides from Serasa or Muara with typical transit times of 10 to 20 minutes, making multi-dive days logistically straightforward. Water temperatures remain warm at 26 to 31 degrees Celsius year-round with visibility ranging from 5 to 20 metres depending on the site and season.

Getting There

Serasa and Muara are located on the northeastern tip of Brunei, approximately 25 km from the capital Bandar Seri Begawan. Brunei International Airport (BWN) receives flights from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, and Jakarta. The dive sites are reached by boat from Serasa or Muara harbours with 10-20 minute transfers. Taxis and ride-hailing services connect the capital to the dive departure points. The compact size of Brunei makes all sites easily accessible for day trips.
