About Central Dalmatia – Šibenik, Split & Islands

Central Dalmatia is the beating heart of Croatian island diving, centred on the cities of Split and Šibenik and the glamorous islands of Brač, Hvar and Vis. It is a region of contrasts: the fiercely protected island of Vis holds some of the Adriatic’s best wreck diving, including the Biševo Blue Cave and the Fortunal steamer; Hvar’s Pakleni Islands offer vertical walls and eagle rays; and Brač and Šolta drop into gorgonian-clad blue water. The region is also wonderfully accessible, with Split Airport (SPU) and fast catamarans linking the islands, making it ideal for a liveaboard-free island-hopping dive trip. Highlights range from the Sveti Nikola sailing-ship wreck and the Host Island barracuda schools to the gentle training lagoons of Trogir’s Krknjaši and Brač’s Lucice Bay. With reliable 25-35 m visibility, warm summer water and a mature dive-centre network, Central Dalmatia suits every level and is the most popular base for divers exploring the Croatian Adriatic.
