Site Overview

Split - Marjan Peninsula is a reef dive site in Central Dalmatia - Sibenik, Split & Islands, Croatia, set in the clear, fish-rich waters of the Adriatic Sea. The Marjan peninsula is a rocky reef right by Split, ideal for shore diving and training. Octopus, scorpionfish and reef fish inhabit the rocks close to the city. Its easy access makes it perfect for a quick dive between sightseeing. Visibility is moderate but the convenience is unbeatable. It is a practical urban dive for building skills. It is a good first taste of the Adriatic for visitors based in Split. Conditions are typical of the Croatian coast: visibility generally runs from 10 to 25 metres, the current is low and the water temperature ranges between 15 and 26 degrees Celsius depending on season and depth. The marine life is classic Adriatic, centred on common octopus, small red scorpionfish, two-banded seabream, with the full community described below for those planning a dive.
