Site Overview

Vis - Bisevo Blue Cave (Modra spilja) is a cave dive site in Central Dalmatia - Sibenik, Split & Islands, Croatia, set in the clear, fish-rich waters of the Adriatic Sea. The Blue Cave on Biševo is a world-famous sea cave where sunlight creates an ethereal silver-blue glow on the water. Diving is mostly outside the cave, while the entrance is a snorkel and sightseeing visit because of the shallow, lit opening and boat traffic. The adjoining Biševo Wall is a superb scuba dive with gorgonians and big fish. The cave light is best at midday when the sun is high and the beam is strongest. Visibility outside is excellent, and the island setting is remote and unspoiled. It is one of the most iconic natural sights in the Croatian Adriatic. Conditions are typical of the Croatian coast: visibility generally runs from 15 to 35 metres, the current is low and the water temperature ranges between 15 and 26 degrees Celsius depending on season and depth.
