About Akamas Peninsula (Far West)

The Akamas Peninsula is the wild, protected northwest tip of Cyprus, a nature reserve of pine-clad headlands, sea caves and the island’s clearest, most turquoise water. Diving here is gentler and more scenic than the wreck hubs, built around the famous Blue Lagoon, the remote bay of Fontana Amorosa, the Akamas Caves and the Latchi artificial reef. The shallows are dense with fish and ideal for beginners, snorkellers and training, while the rocky walls and overhangs hold glassfish, nudibranchs and the occasional turtle. The area is closely tied to the Aphrodite myth — the Baths of Aphrodite above the waterline are a celebrated beauty spot — and the coastline offers steep walls, sea fans and lobster for those who venture further. With few divers and a strong conservation ethos, Akamas feels like a different Cyprus: quieter, greener and wonderfully unspoiled, best reached from the harbour villages of Latchi and Polis.

Getting There

Fly into Larnaca (LCA) or Paphos (PFO) international airports, then drive to Latchi. A rental car is the most flexible way to reach the harbours and dive boats, and most centres run hotel transfers.
