Scuba Diving Regions in East Timor

From world-class walls to muck diving havens, discover the unique character of each regional cluster.

    Regional Diversity

The best time to dive in East Timor is during the dry season, which runs from May to November. During these months, the seas are generally calm, and underwater visibility is at its peak, often reaching 30 to 40 meters at the offshore sites. From June to August, the trade winds can bring slightly cooler temperatures and some choppy seas on the south coast, but the north coast remains relatively sheltered. The whale migration season typically peaks between September and December, offering a unique opportunity for sightings. Diving is possible year-round, but the rainy season (December to April) can lead to reduced visibility near river mouths and occasional boat cancellations due to monsoon weather.
