Site Overview

Granitz is a reef and wall dive site in Baltic Sea – Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, reached from the base town of Binz. Granitz is a gentle forest-to-sea slope near Binz where the woodland reaches the shore and the underwater landscape is a mix of rock and sand. It is a calm, shallow dive good for training and macro, with the occasional cod on the drop-off. The site reaches a maximum depth of 16 m with an average profile around 11 m and a shallow start near 4 m, which places it firmly in the intermediate category and means divers should hold at least an Open Water certification. Conditions are typical of the Baltic Sea environment: visibility generally runs from 4 to 13 metres, the current is weak, and the water temperature ranges between 6 and 19 degrees Celsius with low surge exposure.
