Site Overview

SMS Berlin is a wreck dive site in Baltic Sea – Schleswig-Holstein (Ostsee), Germany, reached from the base town of Kiel. The SMS Berlin is a light cruiser wreck of enormous proportions lying at 20-30 m in Kiel Fjord, its decks, gun emplacements and superstructure intact and colonised by cod and pollack. It is a bucket-list technical wreck dive and one of the largest wrecks in German waters. The site reaches a maximum depth of 30 m with an average profile around 25 m and a shallow start near 20 m, which places it firmly in the advanced category and means divers should hold at least an Advanced Open Water certification.
