Site Overview

Bisti Reef is Hydra’s signature dive, a steep, sloping reef that tumbles from a shallow plateau to around 35 m and is dressed in some of the largest, healthiest sea fans in the Saronic. The clear Aegean water and the reef’s rich life — groupers, morays and a kaleidoscope of nudibranchs among the gorgonians — make it a favourite of photographers and experienced divers alike. Its position off the car-free island of Hydra gives it a peaceful, unspoilt feel, and the excellent visibility means you can often see the whole reef profile at a glance. It is a versatile site: confident Open Water divers enjoy the bright top, while advanced divers drop down the slope for the deeper sea fans and the chance of larger fish in the blue.
