About Apra Harbor

Apra Harbor is the most historically significant dive area in Guam and one of the most unique wreck diving destinations in the world. The harbor is home to the legendary Twin Wrecks, where the SMS Cormoran II, a German WWI raider scuttled in 1917, and the Tokai Maru, a Japanese freighter sunk in 1943, lie touching each other at depths of 15 to 35 metres. This is the only place on Earth where a diver can physically touch wrecks from two different world wars on a single dive. Beyond the Twin Wrecks, Apra Harbor offers the massive Kitsugawa Maru freighter, the spectacular Blue Hole sinkhole dropping to over 60 metres, the macro paradise of Gab Gab Beach, and several other wrecks and coral sites. The harbor is protected from open-ocean swells, providing reliable conditions year-round. Multiple dive operators run daily boat trips from the harbor, making this the most accessible and logistically convenient dive area on the island. The combination of historical significance, geological wonders, and marine biodiversity makes Apra Harbor essential for any Guam diving itinerary.

Getting There

Apra Harbor is located on the central west coast of Guam, approximately 15 minutes drive south of Tumon Bay and 10 minutes from Hagatna. The harbor is accessible via Marine Corps Drive and Route 11. Most dive operators provide resort pickups from Tumon and Tamuning hotels. The harbor itself is a working naval and commercial port, and dive boats depart from designated mooring areas.
