Guam's cuisine reflects its rich Chamorro heritage blended with American, Filipino, Japanese, and Korean influences. The Orote Peninsula and the waters north of Apra Harbor offer some of the most dramatic and advanced diving on Guam. Orote Point Wall is a sheer drop-off plunging hundreds of metres into the Pacific, attracting large pelagics including dogtooth tuna, mackerel, oceanic whitetip sharks, and passing dolphin pods. This is a serious boat dive for experienced divers seeking big-animal encounters in open ocean conditions. The Crevice provides a contrasting macro experience, with a deep crack in the reef at 20 to 30 metres hosting nudibranchs, whip coral shrimp, frogfish, and occasional leopard sharks. Orote North slopes gently with large gorgonians, groupers, moray eels, and sea turtles in consistently good visibility. The peninsula itself is rich in WWII history, with remnants of Japanese fortifications and the site of the final battle for Guam in 1944. The combination of extreme depth walls, macro critter sites, and historical significance makes this area appealing to advanced divers and underwater photographers seeking variety and challenge beyond the more sheltered harbor sites.

Orote Peninsula & North Apra

The Orote Peninsula is located at the southern entrance to Apra Harbor on Guam's west coast. All dive sites in this area are accessed by boat from operators based in Apra Harbor or Tumon Bay. The boat ride typically takes 10 to 20 minutes from the harbor. The peninsula itself is accessible by road for above-water sightseeing, but the dive sites require boat access due to the steep cliffs and depth of the walls. Dive operators run regular trips to Orote Point and the northern sites, typically scheduling two to three dives per trip.
